Where: Exit 212 off I-5, 14 miles southwest of Stanwood on Camano Island. Cama Beach State Park is just one mile North of Camano Island State Park. The park is currently closed. Projected opening date is Spring/Fall 2003.

What: There is over a mile of shoreline looking onto Saratoga Pasage and Whidbey Island. There is a total of 433 acres -- most of it wooded with a wetlands area called Cranberry Lake. The trail system will connect to both Camano Island State Park and the Cross Island trail system. There are currently 31 cabins that are being repaired and will be open to the public for overnight use. There are also four more cabins that will become meeting space. There is also a day use area that will have a restroom. There is currently a boathouse that is being fixed up and will be used by The Center for Wooden Boats. They will develop programs that they will run out of the boathouse. There will also be a 15-room retreat lodge and a Dining Hall built before the park is open.

Activities: Interpretive programs on all aspects of the park, boating programs, boating, saltwater fishing, seasonal clamming and crabbing, bird watching, picnicking, and hiking.

History: Cama Beach Resort was originally opened by Leroy Stradley in 1936, as an Auto Court Fishing Resort. He died a year later and the Resort was taken over by his daughter Murial and her husband Lee Risk. They managed the resort until 1989. In 1993, Cama Beach was bought/donated by The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission.
